About Daniel R. Bensimhon, MD

Throughout his career, Dr. Bensimhon has received numerous awards centering around his passion for patient care and innovation including Best Clinical Instructor, Patient’s Choice Award, Compassionate Doctor Award and Top 10 Doctors in North Carolina. Most recently in 2020, he was awarded the “Innovations in Clinical Care” award, nominated by peers and selected by the Cone Health Medical Executive Committee. In 2016, he was the co-recipient of the LeBauer Visionary Award for physicians who have made a significant contribution to improving the cardiovascular health of the community and region through exceptional patient care, ground breaking research and treatments, and active participation and contributions toward community healthcare causes. He is an active clinical researcher and has authored or co-authored nearly 100 peer-reviewed journal articles and has served as a manuscript reviewer for several journals including, American Heart Journal and Heart. He previously served as a staff editor and writer for national health and fitness magazines including Men’s Health and Men’s Journal magazines.

Dr. Bensimhon received his medical education at University of Pittsburgh and completed his residency and fellowship training at Duke University Medical Center.  At Cone Health, he has specialized in building multiple cardiovascular programs including the Advanced Heart Failure, and mechanical support programs, the Cardio-Oncology Clinic and Cardiac Amyloidosis program.
